Derby K9 Terms & Conditions
By booking any puppy class, dog‑training class, or one‑to‑one session with Derby K9, you agree to these Terms & Conditions. Failure to comply may result in your session being ended without refund and may affect future bookings.
1. Behaviour & Safety Requirements
1.1 Aggression Disclosure By booking, you confirm your dog has not attacked another person or dog and is not aggressive. If your dog has shown aggression, you must inform us before booking.
Bookings for dogs with aggression issues are only accepted where written permission (email or text) has been granted. Verbal permission is not valid.
Failure to disclose aggression, or bringing a dog we deem unsafe, will result in removal from the session without refund.
1.2 Participation at Your Own Risk By attending any Derby K9 training activity, you acknowledge that you and your dog participate entirely at your own risk. You agree not to hold Derby K9, its trainers, or assistants responsible for injuries, accidents, or incidents involving you or your dog.
1.3 Control of Your Dog You must keep your dog under control at all times, including:
- Following all instructions and safety guidance from the trainer
Failure to do so may result in the session being stopped.
1.4 Special Requirements Any specific needs or behavioural concerns must be discussed and agreed before booking.
1.5 Session Definition A session runs from your arrival at the training location until all activities are completed.
2. Attendance, No‑Shows & Late Cancellations
2.1 Missed One‑to‑One Appointments If you do not attend your booked one‑to‑one session and have not contacted us beforehand, the session is considered fully used. No refund or replacement session will be offered.
Room hire and trainer time are booked specifically for your appointment, and these costs still apply even if you do not attend.
2.2 Missed Classes If you miss a class within a multi‑week course, the class cannot be refunded or transferred. However, Kay will always offer a catch‑up on the next class so you do not fall behind. This catch‑up is included as part of your course and is not chargeable.
2.3 Late Cancellations (Within 72 Hours) Cancellations made within 72 hours of a one‑to‑one session cannot be refunded or transferred. The slot cannot be filled at such short notice and room hire has already been paid.
For classes, cancellations within 72 hours are treated as a missed class (see 2.2).
2.4 Trainer Discretion for Emergencies We understand genuine emergencies happen. In exceptional circumstances, and at the trainer’s discretion, we may offer a transfer to another date for one‑to‑one sessions. This is assessed case‑by‑case and is not guaranteed.
3. Health & Welfare
- Dogs must be fit, healthy, and up‑to‑date with vaccinations.
- Dogs showing signs of illness must not attend.
- Bitches in season cannot attend classes or group sessions.
4. Equipment & Training Methods
- Only force‑free, positive‑reinforcement methods are permitted.
- Prong collars, shock/e‑collars, choke chains, or aversive equipment are not allowed.
- You must bring suitable treats, leads, and any equipment requested.
5. Attendance Rules for Owners & Guests
5.1 Maximum Number of People Only one additional person may attend a one‑to‑one session or class with you. This ensures a calm environment and prevents overcrowding, especially in puppy classes where dogs may be nervous.
5.2 Behaviour of Owners & Guests Owners and accompanying persons must behave calmly and respectfully throughout the session. Disruptive behaviour, including loud talking, shouting, interfering with other dogs, or causing distraction may result in being asked to leave.
5.3 Protecting Puppy Welfare Puppies can be naturally nervous, excited, or easily overwhelmed. To protect their welfare and ensure effective learning, Derby K9 reserves the right to remove any person whose behaviour negatively affects the class environment.
Providing a calm, safe, and supportive space for all dogs is our highest priority.
6. Media & Privacy
Derby K9 may take photos or short videos during classes for training or promotional use. If you prefer not to be included, please inform us before your session.
7. Liability
Derby K9 accepts no responsibility for loss, damage, or injury to persons, dogs, or property during training sessions. You are responsible for your dog’s behaviour at all times.
8. Booking Confirmation
By completing a booking, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms & Conditions.
